Welcome to the CoPS Lab web site. The CoPS Lab is part of the
Department of Computer Science
at the University of North Texas,
and refers both to a physical facility (currently located in NTRP F-238)
and an active group of people with an interest in security. The CoPS Lab
was established in 2001 with the following mission:
To increase general security awareness of Computer Science
graduates, produce skilled security specialists, and conduct research
and development activities to advance the state of the art in computer
security.
The mission of the lab is pursued through the following
activities:
- Education: Work within both traditional university degree
programs, and providing state-of-the-art training programs for
industry professionals;
- Research: Produce world-class security research, involving
faculty and students at all levels, from undergraduate to Ph.D.
students;
- Industry involvement: Work with industry to keep the
academia/industry gap as small as possible, without compromising our
general academic mission.

Wednesday, February 8, 2006: SAgent software released
The CoPS Lab has released the first public version (version 0.9.0) of
the SAgent security framework for the JADE agent platform. This
software is the first extendible software framework available for
protecting the confidentiality and integrity of data that is carried
and used by a mobile agent. Several papers have describing the design
of SAgent and initial experimental results have also been released,
and are available from the CoPS Lab web site. For more information,
see the SAgent web page.
The CoPS Lab is one of the research laboratories associated with the
Center for Information and Computer
Security.
